Pharmaceutical and therapeutic category and mode of action
Binozyt is active against certain bacteria (it is an antibiotic). After you take the medicine, the active ingredient in Binozyt - azithromycin - passes into the bloodstream from the digestive tract and is carried to the diseased tissue, where it starts acting against the bacteria. Because azithromycin remains at the site of infection for longer than other antibiotics, the healing action continues for several days after taking the medicine.

Marketing authorization holder

Sandoz GmbH, Kundl - Austria

Indications
Binozyt is suitable for treating the following conditions which are caused by organisms sensitive to azithromycin:
Infections
• of the upper and lower respiratory tract, for example infections of the ear, nose and throat, bronchitis,   and pneumonia
• of the skin and soft tissues
• of the urinary tract and genitals

If you are using an antacid, you should leave an interval of 2 to 3 hours between taking the two medicines.

The capsules should be token at least one hour before meals or no earlier than 2 hours after meals. The film-coated tablets and capsules must be swallowed whole with sufficient fluid and not chewed.
Please take the dose prescribed by your doctor on 3 successive days, if possible at the same time of day. The duration of use will depend exclusively on your doctor's instructions. Do not stop taking your Binozyt treatment without consulting your doctor. If you do, your condition could be made worse.

In some cases the symptoms re-appear and require long-term monitoring or treatment.
