Daktarin Information
Daktarin is an anti fungal medicine that prevents fungus from growing on the skin. Fungi are heterotrophic single-celled, multinucleated, or multi cellular organisms. They include yeasts, molds, and mushrooms. The organisms live as parasites, symbionts, or saprobes. Daktarin prevents these fungi from feeding on the skin.
Daktarin Indication
Daktarin is used in treating skin infections. These infections include the following:
- Athlete’s foot
- Jock itch
- Ringworm
- Tinea versicolor
- Yeast infections
It may also be used for purposes other than those indicated here.
Daktarin Warnings
Daktarin should not be used if one had a previous allergic reaction to its main component miconazole.
It is unknown whether this drug may or may not be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without your doctor’s consent especially when you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant. It is also unknown whether this drug passes into breast milk or not. Do not take this drug without your doctor’s consent if you are nursing an infant.
Avoid tight-fitting clothes. Use cotton or loose clothes so as not to aggravate your present infection.
Avoid contact of this medication to your eyes, nose or mouth.
Daktarin Intake Guidelines
Daktarin should be applied exactly as instructed by your doctor. If there are matters that you do not understand, refer to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist and ask him or her to explain those matters to you.
Hands should be washed before and after the use of this medication. Before applying the cream, lotion, spray or powder form of this drug, clean and dry the affected area first. Use it once or twice daily as directed for a period of two to four weeks. If the infection does not improve in two to four weeks, inform your doctor.
Bandages or dressings that prevent air circulation should not be used unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Light cotton-gauze dressings are more preferable.
Store this drug in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
Make sure to follow all your doctor’s instructions when using this drug.
Daktarin Dosage
Dosage of Daktarin should be obtained from your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regards to a variety of factors, which includes the type of infection, age of the user and a lot more.
Daktarin Overdose Overdose of Daktarin is not likely to occur. Seek immediate medical attention, however, if this drug has been accidentally ingested.
Daktarin Missed Dose If possible, do not miss an application of this drug. If an application is missed, however, apply it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and apply the subsequent dose according to your normal application schedule. Do not apply a double dose of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Daktarin Side Effects
Serious side effects of Daktarin are not likely to occur. However, it may have the following side effects:
- Severe blistering
- Itching
- Redness
- Peeling
- Dryness
- Irritation of the skin
If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, discontinue using Daktarin and seek immediate medical attention. Inform your doctor afterwards.
Other side effects may also occur when you use Daktarin. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual while or after using this drug.
Daktarin Drug Reactions Other skin medications may interact with Daktarin. Do not use different skin medications without your doctor’s approval. Doing this may cause serious unwanted side effects.
